In May 2023, the annual Native American Indigenous Studies Association conference will be hosted at the University of Toronto, St. George campus in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Tkaronto has been home of Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe peoples since time immemorial and part of the original homelands of the Wendat people. The name Tkaronto comes from a Kanyen’ keha word meaning where the trees stand in the water.

As part of our committee welcome, we invite you to consider what it might mean to be together in Tkaronto in ways that enliven consensual relationships between human and more-than-human persons, lands, and waterways. Click here to read NAISA’s full Welcome into Good Relation.
